Helping Men and Women Who Served This Great Nation!
National studies have identified the epidemic of veteran homelessness nationwide. In November 2007, the Homelessness Research Institute released Vital Mission: Ending Homelessness Among Veterans. Using 2006 CHALENG data from the Department of Veterans Affairs, this report showed that approximately 195,827 veterans were homeless on a given night—far too many. In March 2008, the VA released its 2007 CHALENG data, reporting that approximately 154,000 veterans were homeless--still far too many.
New Beginnings Incorporation is a human services organization that provides emergency and transitional housing, mental health counseling, and vocational training leading to full time employment to homeless veterans, seniors, disabled persons, and persons-in-need. Our target population is the female veteran who is homeless and those with children.
The primary demand for homeless services is a constant need. The national trend for human services providers has been to service the general homeless population. A newly emerging market segment shows a national crisis of inadequate service to homeless veterans, particularly female homeless veterans, and at-risk veterans suffering from PTSD and substance abuse.
